Poll: Americans Blame Unvaccinated, Trump For New COVID Surge

Poll shows Americans aren’t listening to Republicans for who to blame for the new COVID surge.

A new poll shows that most Americans blame the unvaccinated for the surge of Delta variant infections from COVID-19. Despite the efforts of Republicans in Congress and right-wing outlets like Fox News, efforts to blame vaccines, President Biden, Dr. Anthony Fauci appear to have fallen flat.

“Among the vaccinated, 78.6% said the unvaccinated are to blame; 35.7% blame former President Donald Trump; almost as many blame conservative media. Nearly 30% blame foreign travelers in the U.S.,” Mediaite reports.

Media outlets trusted by conservatives have for months played down the virus, and most notably top-rated Fox News host Tucker Carlson has frequently promoted unscientific anti-vaccine stories.

Health officials have said that the latest wave of COVID has been confined almost exclusively to the unvaccinated and has largely been concentrated in states led by Republicans.

States with Democratic leaders and who voted for President Joe Biden in 2020 have been ahead of others on vaccinations.
