Inside Job? GOP Congressman Admits He Wore Body Armor Before Capitol Attack

GOP congressman may have known Capitol attack was coming.

A Republican congressman has raised concerns that he or other Republicans in Congress may have had advanced knowledge of the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) now says that he wore body armor while speaking to a pro-Trump rally on the day of the attack. If Brooks’ story is true, many will now wonder if he knew the attack was about to occur — and never warned other members of Congress or security officials.

“I was warned on Monday that there might be risks associated with the next few days,” Brooks told Slate. “And as a consequence of those warnings, I did not go to my condo. Instead, I slept on the floor of my office. And when I gave my speech at the Ellipse, I was wearing body armor.”

The attack would later occur and kill several people in a failed attempt by pro-Trump rioters to stop the results of the 2020 election.

Republicans – including Brooks – have voted against investigations into the attack and have attempted to deflect blame for the criminal incursion away from Donald Trump and other members of the party.
