Thomas Patrick Connally, Jr. has been arrested by federal authorities and charged with making homicidal threats against Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Department of Justice has now revealed.

“A federal criminal complaint has been filed charging Thomas Patrick Connally, Jr., age 56, for the federal charges of threats against a federal official and interstate communication containing a threat to harm, specifically for sending emails threatening harm to Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Francis Collins, the current Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH),” the Department said in a press release.

Acting U.S. Attorney Jonathan Lenzner slammed the alleged threat.

“We will never tolerate violent threats against public officials,” he noted in a release.  “Our public health officials deserve our thanks and appreciation for their tireless work, and we will not hesitate to bring charges against those individuals who seek to use fear to silence these public servants.”

The affidavit filed with Connally’s charged allege that he used a secure email server to send his threats to Dr. Fauci. In email, the man reportedly told Fauci he would be “dragged into the street, beaten to death, and set on fire.”

There was an avalanche of emails. On one day, the defendant reportedly sent seven emails to Fauci. Emails were being sent as recently as July 21 2021.

According to the Department, Connally could face “a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison for threats against a federal official; and a maximum of five years in federal prison for interstate communication containing a threat to harm.”

The threats against Fauci come at the same time as Republicans have intensified their attacks on him. Multiple Republicans, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) have backed a so-called “Fire Fauci” bill. Others, like former President Donald Trump and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) have tried to blame Fauci for the fallout from the COVID virus.

Recently Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) floated the idea of arresting Fauci if Republicans win the midterm elections.
