Bizarre: McConnell Claims Plan To Fix Bridges Is ‘Socialist’

Senate Minority Mitch McConnell has now bizarrely described the plan in the Senate to fix bridges and shore up the nation’s infrastructure as “socialist.”

“It’s an introduction of socialism into America, done on a one-party basis in a Congress that’s virtually tied,” McConnell complained to reporters. “They didn’t get a mandate to do this stuff. They’re not going to have any Republican’s help in doing this stuff.”

McConnell further attacked the bill as “a grand socialist experiment.”

Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has nonetheless revealed plans to bring the measures in the $3.5 billion infrastructure plan to a vote in the Senate.

President Joe Biden has made clear he supports the measure, while Speaker Nancy Pelosi hailed the package as a way to provide vital infrastructure repairs that would assist millions of people.

During his one-term presidency, Donald Trump frequently promised to invest in infrastructure. But when the Republican Party had the majority in the House and Senate, the party chose instead to pass a tax cut weighted in favor of millionaires and billionaires.
