Senate Democrats have announced agreement on a $3.5 billion plan to address huge issues affecting millions of Americans and the world.
The plan would expand the Medicare system so coverage gets to more people for more medical needs, and would also make gigantic investments in policies and technology designed to reverse climate change.
“We know we have a long road to go. We’re going to get this done for the sake of making average Americans’ lives a whole lot better,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said on Tuesday night while meeting with reporters.
Republicans have repeatedly said they oppose efforts to help most Americans and have said they intend to vote against plans that would invest in infrastructure and fight climate change.
The Democratic plan stands in contrast to the major legislative achievement when Republicans controlled Congress: A massive tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires like Sean Hannity and Jeff Bezos.
