Fox News is refusing to air an anti-Donald Trump ad from teachers that was supposed to run during the Republican Convention.
“The 30-second spot from the American Federation of Teachers’ super PAC, AFT Solidarity, slams Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) for what the union says is failure to provide adequate personal protective equipment to educators and plan for a safe return to public schools during the coronavirus outbreak,” HuffPost reports.
The teachers’ union told the outlet that Fox’s advertising department pushed for changes to the ad, seeking a “more specific argument” for why Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell are responsible for school reopening guidelines.
Trump and McConnell, along with many other Republicans, have pushed for school reopenings despite widespread concerns about COVID-19 infections.
By banning the ad, Fox is turning down $180,000 the union planned to spend.
Fox has been a strong promoter of Trump and often airs hundreds of hours of pro-Trump content.
