The House Foreign Affairs Committee is now officially investigating the Trump administration’s attacks on the World Health Organization (WHO).
Republicans are attacking WHO and its connections to China in an attempt to deflect blame for Trump’s handling of coronavirus. Over 53,000 Americans have died from the virus.
Trump has said he is planning to cut off funding to WHO despite the entire world fighting against coronavirus.
“The Administration’s explanation for this decision is inadequate, and the Committee on Foreign Affairs is determined to understand the reasons behind this self-defeating withdrawal from global leadership,” Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY), chairman of the committee, writes in a letter.
